Envoy America - A Unique Ridesharing Program Focused on Seniors and Patients - Expands Outside Arizona With National Agreement With AMR's Access2Care

Envoy America, a comprehensive ridesharing program that offers accompanied transportation and extra assistance for seniors and patients, announced an agreement with Access2Care, a division of American Medical Response, Inc.(AMR). Houston will be the initial market for the new Envoy America services which began June 6 for Access2Care patients.

Access2Care manages the transportation experience for those receiving a non-emergency medical transportation benefit. This ensures that those in need get the right services, at the right time, from the most appropriate transportation resources, utilizing a large network of contracted and credentialed transportation providers in each service area.

Adding Envoy America effectively creates a new category of transport beyond Access2Care’s current transportation options that include scheduled ambulance transportation, wheelchair/stretcher van transportation and taxis or rideshare services such as Lyft.Instead of the standard curbside service of other transportation companies, Envoy America offers door-to-door service where drivers are companions for their passengers and remain with them until they are back home.

All Envoy America drivers are 50+ years old and provide a helping hand for doctors’ appointments, grocery shopping, social outings and more, just like a son or daughter would with tasks that often become more difficult for seniors or patients.   Under the agreement, Access2Care will schedule Envoy America transports for its members as appropriate.

“Access2Care delivers unique and specialized transportation services for members of Medicare Advantage health plans,” said Sven Johnson, CEO of Managed Transportation and Integrated Practices for Access2Care. “Our new relationship with Envoy America will help us deliver an exceptional transport experience for the most vulnerable health plan members. Envoy America's ability to match a mature driver with a rider and wait for that rider as they receive care helps us set our health plan clients apart from their competitors.”

“Envoy America’s model and systems have matured and solidified since we first launched just two years ago. We were looking to expand into additional markets outside of Arizona when we were approach by AMR and Access2Care and we quickly agreed that the partnership and timing were perfect,” said K.C. Kanaan, Chief Executive Officer of Envoy America.  “Our door-to-door model of assistance and companionship fits perfectly with Access2Care’s goals to ensure their members are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve and we couldn’t be more excited to work with them in Houston.”
