Airbus DS Communications (formerly Cassidian Communications) has completed installation of the Next Generation 9-1-1 call processing system, VESTA 9-1-1 for the Cameron County Emergency Communication District (CCECD) of Texas.

Cameron County is the most southeastern county on Texas’s coast.   The CCECD dispatch center serves the public safety agencies of the cities of Brownsville, Combes, Harlingen, La Feria, Laguna Vista, Los Fresnos, Los Indios, Palm Valley, Rio Hondo, Port Isabel, Primera, Rancho Viejo, San Benito, Santa Rosa, Bay View and the towns of Indian Lake and South Padre Island.

Stratus Technologies

The advanced features of VESTA 9-1-1 give CCECD the foundation for text to 9-1-1 and multimedia capabilities to the 453,000 citizens it serves. The district takes more than 100,000 calls a year to assist those in 15 communities.

The system design includes two-host sites, Harlingen Police Department and Harlingen EMS, so that in the event one of the host sites is unavailable, the other is capable of running the entire network.

The flexibility and customization of the system enables 9-1-1 supervisors to quickly and efficiently adapt to changing operational requirements, such as unusually high or low call volumes which improves response times.
