Icom America & First Choice Communications Deliver UHF P25 Trunked Solution to City of Roanoke TX Police & Fire

First Choice Communications, in partnership with Icom America, was awarded a UHF P25 trunked solution for the City of Roanoke Texas Police Department. The Roanoke Police Department, located in southern Denton County, is a support agency to the Texas Motor Speedway.  Roanoke Police department is also a member of the Regional SWAT Team that includes the cities of Colleyville, Keller, Southlake, and Trophy Club.

First Choice will implement Icom America’s infrastructure while leveraging Icom’s partnership with Etherstack to provide the P25 Trunking Switch. First Choise will use Icom's FR9020 repeaters as the backbone to power the system. The P25 Radio Network includes Open Interfaces conforming to the ISSI and CSSI standards, which allows the Roanoke Police Department Network to connect to other regional P25 radio networks easing interoperability with other agencies.

First Choice used a multi-vendor approach to meet the needs of the police officers and fire department subscriber units. They integrated existing systems between the police and fire departments into the new Icom/Etherstack network. In this way, First Choice provided an affordable P25 trunking solution so that for the first time Chief Gary Johnson and his officers will have the ability to interoperate with all the other agencies from the console level to the subscriber level.
