Mission Critical Partners, Inc. (MCP) has been selected to provide public safety technology and facility consulting services to the City of Philadelphia, which recently kicked off multi-year initiative to evolve its 9-1-1 infrastructure and facilities.

The project will bring significantly enhanced first responder communications to Philadelphia and prepare the city’s communications technology and facilities for Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1), a broadband-enabled, IP-based system that allows 9-1-1 to keep pace with the communication technology used by the public. It also will bring additional enhancements to the City’s 9-1-1 center facility and computer-aided dispatch system, as well as a new text-to-9-1-1 capability.

MCP will provide 9-1-1 management and consulting services to the city regarding its mission-critical communications, including the following tasks:

  • Deploying a regional Emergency Services Internet Protocol Network (ESInet)
  • Assessing the city’s land mobile radio (LMR) system assets and contract management
  • Planning and programming for a new, modern 9-1-1 center
  • Communications technology procurement support
  • Assistance deploying text-to-9-1-1 service.

Philadelphia operates the busiest public safety answering point (PSAP) in Pennsylvania, receiving approximately 3 million 9-1-1 calls annually, one-third of 9-1-1 calls statewide.
