Macomb County Consolidates and Enhances Public Safety Technology With New World Systems

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office now utilizes data-sharing capabilities and intelligence-led policing initiatives with its public safety software from New World Systems®.

The sheriff’s office, located approximately 20 miles from Detroit, Michigan, and 6 affiliated agencies recently went live with New World’s AEGIS™ Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records, Mobile Computing, Field Reporting, and Fire software solutions. This software provides the county with multi-jurisdictional and multi-agency capabilities necessary to dispatch law enforcement, fire, and EMS first responders from a single system.

“New World’s software is an integral part of the sheriff’s office dispatch operations as it enables dispatchers and first responders to access critical information from the beginning of a 9-1-1 call until the call for service has been completed,” Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said.

Wickersham highlighted New World’s integrated software solutions and data sharing capabilities as one deciding factor behind the agency’s decision to select the Michigan-based company for their consolidated dispatch system. This integration enables first responders to keep mission-critical information at their fingertips and easily share data across disciplines.

“With the AEGIS Public Safety software from New World we can utilize advanced data sharing between law enforcement, fire, and EMS agencies,” Wickersham said. “This technology provides us with the opportunity to provide life-saving information to first responders in a more timely and efficient manner.”

New World will also help Macomb County with its intelligence-led policing initiatives as the AEGIS Public Safety Software includes tools to help analyze crime trends. Wickersham said the information that his officers need is readily available within the system.

All dispatch activities for the county and its 6 affiliated agencies are performed at Macomb County’s $13 million state-of-the-art Communications and Technology Center (COMTEC) facility. The county has more than 854,000 residents and is located in the Metro Detroit area.

Trusted by more than 2,000 public sector organizations nationwide, New World Systems designs, develops, markets, supports and implements the integrated AEGIS™ Suite of Public Safety Solutions for Law Enforcement, Fire and EMS and LOGOS™ Public Administration Suite for local governments and K12 schools.
