New Services Support Regional Wireless Carrier’s Subscribers in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Florida

Intrado Inc., a leading provider of 9-1-1 technology solutions, has announced an agreement to provide emergency communications services to Atlanta-based regional wireless carrier SouthernLINC Wireless, a Southern Company.

Under the terms of the agreement, Intrado is providing SouthernLINC Wireless with a broad suite of value-based solutions, including wireless Phase I and Phase II services that help 9-1-1 centers determine a caller’s physical location.

“Intrado is very pleased to have been selected by SouthernLINC Wireless as its provider of wireless 9-1-1 services,” said Dami Hummel, vice president and general manager of the Intrado Mobility Division. “We appreciate the opportunity to support SouthernLINC Wireless in its efforts to streamline its 9-1-1 operations and help protect the property and lives of its subscribers.”

The Federal Communications Commission implemented Phase I and Phase II Enhanced 9-1-1 (E911) rules to help improve the effectiveness and reliability of wireless 9-1-1 services. These rules require carriers to provide emergency dispatchers with additional location information for incoming wireless 9-1-1 calls they receive.

“At SouthernLINC Wireless, we’re dedicated to providing our subscribers with the most reliable wireless services available,” said Michael Rosenthal, director of legal and external affairs for SouthernLINC Wireless. “We look forward to working with Intrado to provide these essential 9-1-1 services for our customers.”
