Fairmont PD & PTS Solutions First In Country To Successfully Test New Secure Link To The National Data Exchange
The Fairmont, West Virginia Police Department is the first agency in the country to participate in the National Data Exchange (N-DEx) program through a new secure Information Exchange Data Package (IEDP). PTS Solutions, Inc. (PTS) provided the records management system software to enable the police department to participate in N-DEx.
Corporal Glen Staley, of the Fairmont Police Department said, “I’m proud that my agency is on the cutting edge of information sharing and crime solving. By partnering with PTS Solutions, we are able to participate in this national data sharing program in a cost-effective way.”
The Fairmont Police Department was selected as the test bed for the IEDP technology because of its close proximity to the N-DEx home office. Corporal Staley said the N-DEx program is working very well for his agency. They are pleased to help N-DEx in its efforts to create a secure, cost-efficient platform for the nation’s criminal justice agencies.
N-DEx is a repository of criminal justice records, available in a secure online environment, managed by the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division. Through user-submitted data, N-DEx links seemingly unrelated data from criminal justice agencies throughout the United States. In today’s transient world, a central search point can essentially “connect the dots” between jurisdictions to enhance investigative, strategic, and tactical capabilities. N-DEx services are free to participating users.
PTS Solutions is a public safety software provider that has been actively working with the N-DEx program since July 2010. Submission to N-DEx is included as part of PTS records management software at no cost to PTS Incident Solutions’ users.
