Polk County Selects Spok's Critical Alerting Solution for Emergency Communications

Spok, Inc. has announced that the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in Winter Haven, Fla., has selected its critical alerting solution to enhance emergency communications among first responders and other employees. The new solution will allow county staff to quickly and reliably reach emergency responders, the sheriff’s office, and specialized teams such as SWAT and underwater search and rescue.

“We wanted a new solution that we could count on for dependability and flexibility,” said a representative from the Polk County Sheriff's Office IT division. A top consideration was swift communication with teams: “We were interested in having the ability to reach customized groups, either via email or text, and the Spok® solution makes that very easy.”

As the fourth largest county in Florida, with more than 2,000 square miles including 550 lakes, Polk County needed a critical communications system that could handle a variety of demands and reach mobile staff members in a number of ways. Spok’s critical alerting solution, with its robust, flexible design and ease of use with a range of communication devices, more than fit the organization’s needs.

With the Spok solution, reaching mobile team members quickly can improve overall workflow and staff productivity. Fast delivery of important alerts to the people who can act on them provides a safer community and a safer working environment for responders.
