Tiburon Announces Latest Enhancements to CAD-to-CAD Interface and Tiburon CAD

TotalCommand Edition ver. 2.9 Helps Agencies Share Data & Achieve Interoperability

Tiburon, Inc., a portfolio company of The Gores Group and a leading provider of public safety software solutions, has announced significant feature enhancements to its CAD-to-CAD Interface and Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) Solution: TotalCommand Edition version 2.9. Tiburon’s latest enhancements help law enforcement, fire and 9-1-1 emergency services achieve interoperability and data sharing without sacrificing individual agency requirements.

Tiburon’s CAD-to-CAD interface was originally developed and implemented for Best of NIEM Award winner Arlington Virginia, and expanded for inclusion in Tiburon’s flagship CAD products. As a participating IJIS Institute committee member, Tiburon elected to adhere to the National Capitol Regions’ (NCR) Data Exchange Hub (DEH) model, ensuring standard protocols that promote swift and efficient emergency response to incidents from units on disparate CAD systems. “Our standards-based approach allows one or more CAD systems to work together, via a central hub, for the purpose of agency to agency resource and data sharing,” said Rochelle Newsome, Product Line Manager at Tiburon. “Our advanced interface opens the door for multi-agency consolidation and regional emergency response strategies by mitigating the challenges faced with interoperability.”

Enhanced CAD-to-CAD Interface features include:

Unit Status Updates between local agency and remote agency units in participating CAD systems can produce accurate run recommendations to dispatch resources to emergencies. Requests for Resources with Incident Information allow participating CAD systems to request resources from neighboring agencies. Advanced Unit Location Awareness enables CAD systems to include and transmit additional unit location information in latitude/longitude and the current assigned station referenced (not necessarily the home station for the unit). Forwarding Incident Details allows the CAD systems to publish incident detail to the CAD to CAD Data Exchange when an incident is created, updated, or closed. The CAD-to-CAD Data Exchange will forward incident details to pertinent agencies generally based on commonality of units involved in an incident. This allows an authorized, registered subscriber to receive incident details for one or more agencies/jurisdictions in the same forwarded fashion that the jurisdiction’s CAD system would receive them from the CAD-to-CAD Data Exchange. Authorized Exchange Queries allows Non-CAD systems to query the CAD-to-CAD Data Exchange for Incident and Unit Details. These “Agents” are authorized, registered entities with permission to access the incident and unit information. Advanced Notification allows CAD systems to publish notifications whenever an operator creates a general notification for broadcast and when an operator performs a unit log on, log off, or unit move command to leverage unit requests for mutual aid. Notifications will also be generated from Command and Control Console actions when a jurisdiction changes their operational status mode. Notification Actions enable the integrated CAD systems to act without manual intervention to log on/off units or change a unit assigned station reference. Operational Status Modes enable the CAD systems to distinguish between the Emergency Override and System Override Operational Status Modes so that System Override will not eliminate a jurisdiction from being able to share mutual aid.

Tiburon CAD: TotalCommand Edition Enhancements:

Tiburon CAD provides a reliable, distributed peer-to-peer architecture that supports comprehensive dispatching (even when the server is offline) and incident control for law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services. Tiburon CAD offers an unmatched combination of speed, reliability, and robust features in highly complex communication environments.  A few key highlights in version 2.9 include:

* An enhanced Fire Station alerting window to display the status progression of the alert and continually update in-lieu of text feedback messages.

* New and improved Audible Alerts to the help call takers and dispatchers become aware of events as they happen. The new optional alerts are triggered for Premise Info and Officer Initiated calls.

* Greater support for Call Taking Protocol Software: Priority Dispatch ProQA Paramount Level Certification Platinum (Law, Fire and EMD), APCO’s 9-1-1 Adviser and PowerPhone.

* Over 40 additional features enhanced and new including: new commands, time-zone functionality, and many enhancements to CAD modules including BOLO, move-ups, rosters, mapping and unit recommendations.

"Our CAD-to-CAD Interface does not follow many of the competitor's views that proprietary interfaces with an ‘our way or the highway' mentality is for the best of our clients.  We feel that following proven industry standards for a more open architecture avoids finger-pointing between vendors down the road," said Cliff Micham, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing at Tiburon.
