Zetron Acom EVO system now P25 Phase II compliant

Zetron, a leading provider of mission-critical communications solutions worldwide, announced last month that its Advanced Communications (Acom EVO) system is Project 25 (P25) Phase II-compliant. A P25 Phase II installation featuring Acom EVO is currently underway at a public-safety agency in New Jersey. Its completion will make Zetron’s P25 Phase II deployment the first to interface with a Motorola ASTRO 25 Phase II system.

This is yet another important example of how Zetron leads the way to provide solutions that are cost effective and designed to support future functionality and capabilities. Other console vendors don’t yet support P25 Phase II, or they offer solutions that are cost prohibitive for many agencies.

The benefit of P25 Phase II is that it uses Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA), a channel access method that puts two voice calls in a 12.5 kHz-wide channel. This offers twice the spectrum efficiency offered by P25 Phase I. Phase I uses Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA), which allows only one voice call in a 12.5 kHz channel.
