$5,986 to $7,276 Monthly

Plus a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, life, disability, and CalPERS retirement plan, employee paid.  (2% at 62 for new members or 2.5% at 55 for classic members)

 

THE POSITION:

Under general direction of the JPA Administrator, the Information Systems Manager shall assist in the coordinating, planning, project management, maintenance, and support of an automated public safety dispatch, information, data, and related communication systems. The position of Information Systems Manager is FLSA exempt.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analyze, test, troubleshoot, and evaluate existing network systems, such as local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and internet systems or a segment of a network system.

 

Prepare fiscal documents as it relates to information technology projects and support.

 

Must possess Project Management skills.

 

Must be able to manage, direct, supervise, train, and evaluate staff based on current policies and procedures. 

 

Assist novice system users.

 

Must utilize good judgment, flexibility, and sensitivity in response to changing situations and needs.

 

Experience working on and troubleshooting complex Cisco networks with multiple network segments, VPNs, VLANs, Cisco routers, switches and network devices.

 

Ability to produce professional staff reports, written procedures, documentation, and project update reports to upper management as required.

 

Ability to work independently or in a team environment, and with limited direction.

 

Must be able to multitask in a highly stressful environment and work on concurrent projects.

 

A problem solver, well organized, and a team player with solid oral and written communications skills.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

The qualified candidate must have a High School diploma or equivalency and an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Computer Science or a related field.

 

2 years of supervisory management experience in Information Technology is required.

 

Cisco, CCNP certification, or equivalent experience.

 

Experience with networks and network management utilizing routers, firewalls, switches, and Microsoft Windows domain operating systems; working knowledge and experience in server assembly, configuration, and operation, including systems server environments and peripherals as disk controllers, RAM expansion and network cards; Cisco firewalls and routers.

 

Experienced with Microsoft Office, including Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, and Word.

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in computer related discipline or Cisco CCIE Certification.

 

2 years experience in Information technology for a Public Safety Agency or similar environment.

 

Experience in website maintenance.

 

Experience with TriTech CAD systems.

 

Knowledge and experience with 9-1-1 phone systems, next generation 9-1-1  phone systems and technology.

 

Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) enterprise systems.

 

Knowledge of Public Safety Radio Systems, 800 MHz trunked radio systems, and VHF.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

This position has a forty-hour a week work schedule.  The candidate may be asked to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays for special projects.  The candidate may also be asked to work emergency events and situations at any time.
