Production deployment successfully connects wireless carriers, text service providers, & emergency communications centers.

Intrado Inc., a leading provider of 9-1-1 technology solutions and a subsidiary of West Corporation, has announced the first production delivery of emergency text messages from a major wireless carrier through an interconnected network of service providers.

Interoperability between leading text service providers enables the seamless delivery of emergency texts, regardless of the text solution chosen by either the wireless carrier or public safety agency.

“This is a major milestone which we expect will accelerate the adoption of text-to-9-1-1,” said John Kearney, vice president and general manager, Intrado. “We now have the capability to deliver text messages seamlessly from any text-enabled wireless carrier to any text-enabled public safety answering point (PSAP). An important benefit to public safety is the ability to use one text service provider to support all of their text-to-9-1-1 messages.”

Intrado deployed the nation’s first text-to-9-1-1 service in Black Hawk County, Iowa in 2009, and leads the industry in the deployment of Next-Generation 9-1-1 services for telecommunications providers and public safety agencies nationwide.
