The Pennsylvania Command and Communications Rally 2016 took place on April 21st, 2016.  Like similar events occurring in Virginia, California, and elsewhere, the event brought together a variety of state-of-the-art mobile command and communications vehicles to demonstrate and test capabilities and interoperability such as may be needed in a unified command operation during a major emergency or disaster.

The Pennsylvania Rally began in 2011 as the Mobile Command And Communications Spring Rally, then developed and hosted by the South Central Pennsylvania Task Force. The Rally is now an annual event sponsored by Incident Communication Solutions, LLC (ICS) a leading integrator of complex, multi-platform solutions for Public Safety, Critical Infrastructure, Federal Agencies, and DOD. In recent years, ICS has also sponsored rallies in North Carolina and Maryland.

These rallies combine tours and demonstrations of mobile command/communications centers along with educational seminars given by leaders and vendors in the Field.  Yesterday’s Pennsylvania Rally was open to any agency in the Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Delaware, Ohio, West Virginia and DC, including local, state, and federal agencies, public safety, emergency management, USAR, transportation, and homeland security agencies.

Regional Agency Command Vehicles were on site for an interoperability exercise, led by Pennsylvania State Police, State Radio Network Division (SRND) testing communications collaboration among regional responders. Other events included a Federal Partnership for Interoperable Communications (FPIC) Encryption Exercise, amateur radio communications demonstrations, aviation demonstrations and video downlink, technology demos from vendors, and ICS Solutions demonstrations.

If you’re on Facebook, here’s a link to a short video on the Pennsylvania Rally.

Additional upcoming mobile command center rallies across the country include the California MCC Rally on May 5th in Sacramento, and the Fairfax County, Virginia Command, Control & Communications Vehicle Rally on July 15th in Chantilly, Virginia.
