MCC RALLY NEWSLETTER – February 6, 2018

Happy February, which brings us to just two months and change until the 10th Annual California MCC Rally in San Francisco! Please sign-up if you’re planning on attending or bringing a vehicle to demo/display – either use the event invite on this page or send an email to

We already have some unique vehicles signed up and a whole roster of classes.  Cisco will bring their awesome NERV unit (Network Emergency Response Vehicle), which has been to our Rallies twice before; we’re delighted they’re returning – CISCO’s Jason Hoac will also be on hand to teach a class on “Network Security in Hastily Formed Networks.”

The Carnegie Mellon University Silicon Valley, at whose campus we co-hosted our third Rally in 2011, will be here with their Mobile RF Laboratory, an essential infrastructure unit for a command post communications.

Recon Canines, a private, nonprofit group of K9 handlers based out of the Los Gatos area which provides various types of detection dogs (SAR, Cadaver, Electronic Storage Device, etc.). They will be displaying their Sprinter Sportsmobile which is used as their command post (it won "Best Volunteer Public Service" vehicle at the 27th Annual Emergency Vehicle Show in Manteca last October.) Pictured below.

Our old friends at Palo Alto Police will be on hand to with their seven-vehicle integrated command post, including Mobile EOC, and support units; Contra Costa Sheriff, which debuted its new MCC at least year’s Rally, will return, as will PG&E and their Command Unit, an integral piece of support equipment that brings the utility company into a support or unified command system.

Will-Burt satellite trucks & trailers, NVIS, Emergency Equipment Integrator Whalen (WATTCO) will join us for the first time with their demo vehicle, and Equipment supplier and retrofitter Public safety Innovation will again partner with PAPD and demonstrate the latest technology.

Other classes confirmed are Kristi Bolling representing First NET, Rally regular John Rosica with NVIS with a new class, Tony rogers of AvL Tech presenting on “Rapid Deployment antennas and Lessons Learned in 2017,” Fire Captain Rick Smith (Santa Maria FD) presenting on The COML & Comm Unit within the ICS Organization” and “PTSD and First Responder,” and (TBA) presenting on the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and Today’s Quake preparations and response.
