GeoComm is delighted and disheartened to announce the retirement of Kathy Liljequist.  Kathy, who joined GeoComm in 1996, has been a tremendous employee and is gifted with vast Geographic Information Systems knowledge.  Kathy pioneered our 9-1-1 GIS services and software company when it was just starting out and later developed into an informational and experienced resource for the entire GIS and 9-1-1 industry.

Through her 19 years at GeoComm, Kathy has worked on hundreds of GIS mapping projects for 9-1-1 applications where she helped develop and implement customized training programs.  She holds a master’s degree in Geography, is a certified GIS professional, and has presented at countless state, regional, and national public safety industry conferences.  In addition, Kathy has been active in several industry associations including:

  • National Emergency Number Association (NENA)
  • Association of Public Safety Communication Officials (APCO)
  • National States Geographic Information Council (NSGIC)
  • Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA)
  • MidAmerica GIS Consortium (MAGIC)

Kathy has also served on various NENA NG9-1-1 workgroups and was recognized for her dedication to them at the recent NENA Development Conference. She is currently a member of the following work groups:

  • Data Management Committee Co-Chair
  • Data Management Chair
  • NG9-1-1 GIS Data Model member
  • Site Structure Address Point member
  • Emergency Call Routing Function/Location Validation Function (ECRF/LVF) member

“GeoComm salutes Kathy’s career at GeoComm. Kathy’s work was instrumental during the early and formative days of GIS for 9-1-1, and over the ensuing years helped to save many lives and properties!” John Brosowsky, GeoComm Vice President of Product Management and Innovation

Kathy's retirement is our loss, but is well-deserved for her.  If you would like to leave Kathy a retirement message you can CLICK HERE and add a comment at the bottom of the page. We all wish Kathy the very best.
