Airbus DS Communications' VESTA 4 becomes first PBX/voice switch agnostic, IP based E9-1-1 system solution to be JITC-certified

VESTA® 4, a 9-1-1 system made by Airbus DS Communications, achieved Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) certification in Q3 of 2014, making it the first IP based E9-1-1 system approved for use by the Department of Defense (DoD) that was built from the ground up to be NG9-1-1 compliant.

JITC conducts testing of information technology systems, among other technologies, to certify compliance and performance of equipment before it is used by the Department of Defense and other federal agencies. JITC certification includes rigorous data security and interoperability testing to ensure the integrity of the DoD global voice networks.

VESTA 4 is the first 9-1-1 product to be certified to work on any voice switch—a core component within a 9-1-1 call taking system. VESTA 4 is certified to function fully with any PBX/Voice switch within the DoD’s inventory.

This certification opens up sales of VESTA 4 to any DoD entity, such as military bases, satisfying a pent-up demand for E9-1-1 systems that can support traditional E9-1-1 call delivery and future NG9-1-1 capabilities among these groups. The added flexibility now available through VESTA 4 includes the ability to migrate to newer network technologies, such as VOIP systems, as well as the potential to create hosted and GeoDiverse 9-1-1 systems that will increase reliability and potentially lower costs.
