  • Intrado Simplifies Move to NextGen 9-1-1 with Great Migration™ Offer
  • Comprehensive package of NextGen 9-1-1 services requires no capital outlay and comes with i3 Guarantee™

Intrado Inc., a subsidiary of West Corporation and a leading provider of 9-1-1 solutions for public safety, has announced the launch of its Great Migration offer. The offer, created to help public safety answering points (PSAPs) safely migrate to NextGen 9-1-1, is a fully managed package of Advanced 9-1-1SM (A9-1-1®) solutions that requires no capital outlay and comes with the Intrado i3 Guarantee to ensure ongoing compliance with evolving standards.

While PSAPs across the country recognize the benefits that NextGen 9-1-1 can bring to their communities, concerns about upfront costs, evolving technology standards and general uncertainty about how to get started have delayed its broader adoption. The Great Migration offer from Intrado removes these obstacles in a simple, PSAP-focused way by creating a complete, i3-compliant, cloud-based package of NextGen 9-1-1 solutions. Agencies can get immediate NextGen benefits and on-going confidence that their system will be ready for the future.

The Plaquemines Parish Government in Belle Chasse (LA), the first PSAP to purchase this comprehensive package of public safety products and services, is moving into the NextGen world with the assurance that their systems will stay current as technology evolves, without the need for a large up-front expense.

“We looked at several alternatives for next generation 9-1-1 capabilities,” said Jeff Boone, telecommunications manager—Plaquemines Parish Government. “It’s a very big decision for our center with long-lasting impacts. Intrado’s solution made the most sense to us because we can start with the network and call-handling components, and then add on additional NextGen functions as we’re ready. And it complies with the NENA i3 standard, which was very important to us. They have really simplified the process and made it easy to get started.”

The Great Migration is a complete package of Intrado A9-1-1® services developed to help public safety agencies safely and easily make the move to NextGen 9-1-1. Services include: advanced call routing which PSAPs can utilize to dynamically distribute 9-1-1 calls to other emergency communications centers in the event of call overflow or extreme events; enhanced data services to increase situational awareness by delivering supplemental call information such as images, video and address intelligence directly to the PSAP; TXT29-1-1® that uses the three-digit code “9-1-1” to send text messages directly to emergency call takers; GIS management services that provide ongoing maintenance and accuracy of GIS data; and hosted call handling for flexible call distribution, single and multi-site deployments as well as NextGen 9-1-1 application integrations. All delivered through Intrado’s Public Safety Class™ cloud service and backed by the Intrado i3 Guarantee™. No capital outlay is required.

“The need for public safety to keep pace with the way the world communicates today has started the move to a new generation of emergency communications technology,” said Joseph Hernandez, senior-vice president—Intrado. “This move will not happen overnight; PSAPs will need to choose a starting point that makes sense for their operations and their community. The Great Migration offer puts agencies in control of the timing and delivery of NextGen 9-1-1 services while removing barriers such as the need for capital and concerns about evolving standards.”
