Motorola Solutions' New Cloud Core Managed Service Helps Public Safety Agencies Accelerate Adoption of ASTRO 25 Technology

Consistent, predictable cost helps agencies implement latest mission-critical communications while meeting budget requirements and reducing complexity

In today's continually changing environment where criminals are adopting more sophisticated technology and public safety faces increasing needs for interoperability, it is more important than ever for agencies to stay current with the very latest mission-critical communications. ASTRO® 25 Cloud Core Managed Service from Motorola Solutions Inc. enables agencies to access the latest Project 25 (P25) land mobile radio (LMR) technology as well as provide a communications platform for long-term growth and new capabilities. Agencies can benefit from economies of scale and save on the overall cost of building and maintaining a P25 core solution allowing public safety personnel to focus on their day-to-day mission.

ASTRO 25 Cloud Core Managed Service is designed for agencies needing options for P25 migration or those looking for cost-effective alternatives to owning and operating their own LMR P25 Core. With a Cloud Core agreement, Motorola Solutions owns and operates the LMR core and refreshes components to keep the system enhanced with the latest releases and features. Participating agencies benefit from sharing a common ASTRO 25 core with access to a full set of capabilities they select and immediate agency interoperability.

“Government agencies are challenged with budget restrictions and managing the complexities of a mission-critical communications network while they work to keep communities safe,” said Gary Aitkenhead, vice president, Motorola Solutions Managed Services.  “The ASTRO 25 Cloud Core Managed Service allows public safety staff to focus on their day-to-day mission rather than technology management. Agencies gain access to the latest P25 digital technology and industry-leading experts that can help increase operational flexibility while creating a smooth migration path that protects their current investments.”

Motorola Solutions’ ASTRO 25 Cloud Core Managed Service is an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solution that provides a predictable operating expense model, with a subscription fee, for access to a shared P25 core operated and managed by Motorola Solutions.  The Service can serve as a hub to create regional P25 connectivity to standalone systems, enabling users to roam onto other P25 systems and providing network-to-network interoperability.  Cloud Core customers maintain visibility into the core with the Motorola Solutions’ MyView Portal which tracks real-time network performance status, historical performance reports, real-time coverage predictions and more.  Motorola Solutions provides operational expertise and support to hundreds of public safety networks around the globe through a portfolio of Managed Services; including technology access through Cloud Core, Network Operation services leveraging partnerships and alliances as well as managing large fleets of subscriber devices.
