Motorola Solutions APX 7000L Portable Combines LTE Data and LMR Voice Connectivity
When the mission requires moving across jurisdictions and boundaries, law enforcement needs a radio that quickly captures data for joining local public safety communications systems and talk groups. The new APX 7000L Multiband Portable Radio by Motorola Solutions operates on Long Term Evolution (4G LTE) wireless broadband and land mobile radio (LMR) networks for high-speed data and mission-critical voice connectivity throughout the nation.
With a built-in 4G LTE module, the APX 7000L quickly transmits and receives data, such as over-the-air programming (OTAP) and over-the-air rekeying (OTAR), while allowing the LMR voice channel to remain open. It accesses data over commercial networks and is designed for use on FirstNet, the planned nationwide public safety broadband network.
Other features of the APX 7000L include an integrated GPS receiver, which enables location mapping for increased safety of field personnel. It also has an advanced messaging service for sending and receiving preconfigured or free-form messages securely between the field and the office, dispatch or command center. And it supports Be on the Lookout (BOLO) alerts and Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) database queries. The APX 7000L is validated at FIPS 140-2 Level 3, providing high-level information assurance and encryption.
“While data transmission is becoming more important to law enforcement, it cannot be at the expense of the mission critical LMR voice communications they need for responding and coordinating in the field,” says Paul Mueller, vice president of the U.S. Federal Government Markets Division at Motorola Solutions. “Because the APX 7000L authenticates quickly and remotely, agents can drop into an assignment and be ready to go to work at a moment’s notice.”
