Advanced Solutions to Enhance the Public Safety Platform: Crimson TNG SDR

Date: 2016-08-01

Per Vices is a leading board and solution provider that specializes in the development of high-performance Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems and transceivers. The company continually strives to meet and exceed existing requirements for telecommunication providers, networking and wireless equipment OEMs, academic and research facilities, semiconductor manufacturers, information security analysts, as well as defence and public safety providers.

Per Vices recently released their newest SDR platform: Crimson The Next Generation (Crimson TNG). What’s exciting about the latest upgrade is the fact that Crimson TNG is a high-performance wireless platform that not only enables versatility and flexibility, but also the ability to evolve applications.

The technology embedded in Crimson TNG provides seamless and transparent connectivity among all wireless devices and this is key to enhancing communication between various public safety agencies.

The essence of Crimson TNG is as follows:

  • Full duplex transceiver with an operating frequency from DC to 6.8GHz with four independently controlled receive and transmit chains, each having up to 325MHz of RF bandwidth.
  • Equipped with a highly stable internal reference clock (+/- 5ppb) and a dual SFP+ backhaul providing transfer speeds up to 20Gbps.

As a result, it is highly adaptable and interoperable which has been a continuous challenge within the field.

Traditionally, public safety organizations such as local police departments make their own “independent” decisions when it comes to the purchase of mobile communications devices. With over 50,000 independent organizations making these decisions based on local factors and needs, communication and coordination can get extremely difficult and even chaotic during a major incident.

In a fast paced and smart world, transmission on a single radio system and rebroadcasting individually to first responders is highly inefficient. That is where Crimson TNG comes in as it can enable seamless communication between multiple frequencies and platforms, saving time while enhancing coordination.

Public safety organizations can now configure their radios to their specific needs, while simultaneously providing support to other entities. This enables efficient and successful communication, coordination, and cooperation between these various entities.

Crimson TNG offers enhanced performance via improved timing architecture that enables deterministic latency and phase coherency among the radio chains, which is ideal for MIMO applications.

When it comes to high-performance SDRs, Crimson TNG is a true single-radio solution for modern communications systems.

Key Applications Include:

  • Highly interoperable
  • Diminished congestion
  • Geospatial awareness
  • Easily reconfigurable

Per Vices specializes in developing and building complete wireless systems, including receivers, transmitters and complete transceivers that operate over a wide frequency range and enable a wide range of unique wireless applications. For more information, see: http://www.pervices.com/
