SafetyPAD enhances Enterprise Case Flow module with automated notification, assignment capabilities

Features designed to expedite administrative processes; empower emergency services personnel to focus more on patients, less on paperwork

OPEN Incorporated, makers of the SafetyPAD® suite of technology products for Fire and Emergency Medical Services, has enhanced its Enterprise Version 4.0 platform with automated case flow notification and assignment capabilities.

These new features will expedite certain administrative procedures and empower personnel to focus more on patients and less on paperwork.

“Case flow quality assurance management is a very important, but often a manually-intensive, process. The feedback we received from many of the emergency services agencies that we support was a strong desire to help automate some of these functions,” said Josh Austin, Director of Information Technology at OPEN, Inc. “We are proud of our long-standing pledge to ensuring that our electronic patient care reporting platform empowers firefighters and EMT’s to put the patients first. The additional features to our Enterprise platform enhance that commitment.”

The newly enhanced features include:

  • Case Flow Quality Assurance (QA) Case Assignment. This feature flags cases matched by the search QA review. Agencies can control how cases are divided among a customizable pool of quality assurance officers. Assignees are automatically notified via email and can manage their case load using the integrated Case Flow Module. The system has a flexible matrix of parameters for case distribution which includes quotas, randomization and issue prioritization.
  • Auto-Attendant (“Robo-QA”). Provides fully automated issue documentation. The system agent can also notify crews and complete the case if no other review criteria are met. This feature can be used autonomously or in combination with case assignment to enhance the manual review process.
  • Set and Document Patient Care Reporting or Case Flow QA Status. This feature sets the overall and QA status of all cases matched by search. This response can be used to automatically close, approve or inactivate cases.

“The result is a reduction in administrative overhead by allowing agencies to predefine criteria for documenting an issue as well as specify an appropriate automated response,” said Austin. “In many instances, QA issues can be documented, the crew members notified and the case closed with no human involvement required. The system provides detailed reporting to help identify trends and drive system compliance.”
