Chicago Suburb Adopts RealView's Life-Saving CommandScope pre-planning program
The Minooka, Illinois, Fire Protection District, which operates across this far-southwest Chicago suburb, is adopting the CommandScope™ incident pre-plan program to assist in saving lives and property in cases of emergencies. CommandScope, developed by Chicago-based RealView, LLC, is a pre-plan technology that provides first responders with critical knowledge of buildings, the property and the occupants inside.
“It is imperative for first responders to have access to vital pre-plan information,” said Len Karson, account executive at RealView. “CommandScope provides user-friendly, critical technology that educates responders from every direction and arms them with the knowledge they require to save both lives and property.”
CommandScope provides first responders with instant access en route and on site to property plans, floor plans, hazardous material details, utility shut-off locations, geographical maps, fire hydrants locations, and other critical building and infrastructure information. All of the Minooka District’s detailed information can now be easily updated and then accessed in the event of an incident.
Minooka’s has a population of nearly 11,000. The district has two stations to cover 38 square miles within the counties of Grundy, Kendall and Will. It is staffed by 45 full-time, part-time and volunteer firefighters, paramedics and EMTs.
Commandscope’s shareability with local law enforcement and mutual aid fire departments eliminates guesswork even for those first responders who have never set foot inside a pre-planned building. That means mutual aid firefighters from the Channahon, Troy and Morris fire districts will be as smart about Minooka properties as the local firefighters are.
