The New 9-1-1 Portal

Share |

For more than 23 years, 9-1-1 MAGAZINE provided valuable information, enhancing the performance of our public-safety communications professionals. Recent changes in the economic atmosphere brought the suspension of our print version.

In its place, we’ve developed the industry’s first web portal, and the monthly 9-1-1 MAGAZINE e-newsletter. Together, providing valuable news, how-to’s, lessons learned, and reference information to readers in all aspects of the public safety communications community. By moving to a web portal format, our goal is to help the broadest possible audience of emergency communications management throughout the world and to deliver the best possible marketing value for our sponsors.

The new 9-1-1 portal is being developed by a firm that specializes in B2B content management systems. The portal will allow us to display news alerts and article summaries on the main page, with links to more detailed information within the site. It will include a product/service/resource directory, a job board, and special sections for specific topics and technologies, and give us the ability to serve ads, product profiles, post videos, and track visitor activity on the portal. Our new online web portal replicates and surpasses the format that made 9-1-1 Magazine successful for almost a quarter century.

One of the reasons why 9-1-1 MAGAZINE ranked #1 for Integrity, Most Read, And Highest Pass-along – above all other industry-related magazines – is because our editor and associate editor worked for many years as dispatch supervisors in metropolitan 9-1-1 dispatch centers (both are now highly respected instructors, training on-site, at national conferences, and independently), so they have an intimate working understanding of the industry they’re writing about. Both, as well as our prized writers, columnists, and contributors, are on the project, now, ready to deliver this same caliber of valuable information on the portal, via email, and through all the appropriate social media channels related to our industry.

As a portal for information, resources, and services within the emergency communications community, can be searched by topic or by magazine department, and will be continually updated, bringing you the best news, commentary, and insight from within the 9-1-1 and emergency communications community.
